Everything about River Calder Lancashire totally explainedThe River Calder is a major tributary of the River Ribble starting above Burnley in Lancashire and is around 24 km / 15 miles in length. It flows through Towneley Park and Burnley town centre where it's joined by the River Brun. It then flows north where it's joined by Pendle Water before turning west past Gawthorpe Hall and through the town of Padiham. It flows through Altham and Whalley, passing the ruins of Whalley Abbey, then being crossed by the red brick Whalley Viaduct. It meets the Ribble near Great Mitton.
